Top Notch Manufacturing
At the Economic Times, we have always maintained that India's long-term development depends on a robust, evolving and efficient manufacturing base. Over the past few years, we have seen our conviction in India's inherent skills in manufacturing being vindicated. The manufacturing GDP has grown consistently over the past ten quarters, and Indian manufacturing is now increasingly moving towards being globally competitive in quality, costs and innovation.
The Economic Times Intelligence Group, in association with Oracle, conducted an ETIG Knowledge Forum titled "Top Notch Manufacturing: accelerating growth" on November 8 2006 in Mumbai. This ETIG Knowledge Forum discussion brought together leaders of Indian manufacturing to discuss ideas with a select high-profile audience. The topics taken up for discussion were the strategies and tactics that Indian manufacturers should adopt to be the best in manufacturing and be globally competitive in technology, quality, price, efficiencies, new product development and so on.
The discussion covered areas vital to India's sustained competitiveness- manpower, skills, cost, training, technology and of course, infrastructure, or the lack of it. Every speaker had guided his company through the turmoil of a growth market, in India and overseas, and each had a story to tell.
We had conducted a similar ETIG knowledge forum on manufacturing, in association with Oracle, in Delhi in December 2005 where we had a strong high-profile panel. The full coverage of that event is also on our website on www.etintelligence.com
